Transferring to another course within the University

How do I apply for a transfer to another course?

Students wishing to change courses within the same University, you should talk to Student Connect (Student Service Center)  and lodge a new application for admission. Your request will be processed given that you meet the eligibility of the new course.

When you receive a letter of offer for another course, you may accept the offer by completing an offer acceptance agreement (enclosed with the offer letter) and provide a copy of your passport and current visa. After you accept an offer of place in another course, you should withdraw from your current course.

Visa implications

A new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) will be issued to you when you accept the new offer. The University will notify the Department of Home Affairs of the changes in your enrolment.

You do NOT need to apply for a new visa if your student visa is valid for the duration of your new course given that your transfer is:

  • to another course at the same level (for example from one Bachelor degree to another)
  • to a course at a higher level (for example from Bachelor to Masters level)
  • from a PhD to a Masters (the only exception)

However, please note that:

  • If your student visa is only valid for part of the duration of your new course, you should renew your student visa within a few weeks before it expires.
  • If you have transferred to a course at a lower level (for example Masters to Bachelor level) you MUST apply for a new Student visa as soon as you receive your new CoE.

Transferring to another Education Provider

The above principles apply when you wish to transfer to another education provider.

Students are entitled to transfer to another provider after the first six months at the current provider. Otherwise, you must obtain a release letter.
